As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, the vegan community is all a buzz with the latest addition to the Carl’s Jr menu- the Beyond Famous Star Burger- oh yes, Carl’s Jr now has a vegan option (as long as you skip the mayo and cheese). This is HUGE and a trend I’’m sure we’ll continue to see as veganism continues to blow up.

I was super excited to hear the news and proceeded to have the vegan Famous Star 3 times over the holiday (yeah, I know). It was quite delicious and really took me back to the “good ole days” of being a fast food thot. So you know that I’m excited about this new development. BUUUUUTTT… there is just one little thing- when it came to Carls Jr, I’ve always stan’d for the Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Oh yes, as an omnivore, I could tear one up! But of coarse, when I went vegan I left that and many other faves behind. That was until I figured out, well damn, I could just make it myself at home. So I did. And it was glorious.

I bit down on that burger and I swear I heard angels singing…

So here’s the thing, it’s really easy to replicate the Western Cheeseburger. Here’s how I did it-

  1. The Beyond Burger

  2. Follow Your Heart American Slices

  3. Benevolent Bacon

  4. Alexa Onion Rings

  5. Stubb’s Original BBQ

  6. Sesame Seed Bun

** Remember these companies are always doing f$cksh!t like changing ingredients without warning, so always check that your favorite non-vegan brand’s ingredient lists are still vegan-friendly**

First, pop you onion rings in the oven and cook according to directions- actually, I like to under cook mine a bit so they aren’t super crunchy, but you do you boo. I suggest that when you make your Beyond Burger patty, that you season it. I like to use salt, a little vegan Worcestershire sauce and copious amounts of pepper. This way, your patty will actually taste good ( yes, like meat!)

Fry it up in a pan along with your bacon when your onion rings are near to being done. Just before the patty is done, I add my cheese and pop a lid on top for ultimate melting action (be sure to take out bacon if cooking with burger). If my buns aren’t super fresh, I’ll lightly toast a bit. Otherwise, put your cheesy burger on the bun, add the bacon, onion rings and pour BBQ sauce on top. Boom, you’re done.

Now, you should definitely go out and try the Beyond Famous Star, especially if you use to enjoy them like me because they are good and we need to let these companies know that these products are in demand, but… you should also try this (no recipe) recipe and see what you think…I think you’re gonna like. Try it and let me know in comments below and share with your friends!

As always, thanks for stopping by //
